New Zealand GradPlan Arrangements and Prices for Stata 10 and Stat/Transfer 9

NEW ZEALAND PURCHASES ONLY

Please note that the GradPlan arrangements and prices for Stata 10 are different from previous versions.
(1) Basic GradPlan licences for Stata/IC and Small Stata are available only to students in authorised courses, and the licences are only valid for one year.
(2) Advanced GradPlan perpetual licences for Stata/IC and Stata/SE are available to students in authorised courses, and to their lecturers.
(3) Once a course has been authorised, GradPlan purchases may be made from our office at any time, and there is no minimum order for the purchases.

Before we can accept GradPlan orders from students, their lecturers need to send us information about the course so that we can register it as an New Zealand authorised course in order to receive the heavily discounted GradPlan prices. The current list of authorised courses is at the end of this page.

Small Stata has all the features and functions of Stata/IC but can only handle datasets limited to about 300 Kb ( 99 variables with a maximum of about 1000 cases). The Mac versions apply only to Mac OS X. Stata 10 is not available for earlier Mac versions.

Stat/Transfer is available for Windows, Macintosh and UNIX. Users get the software CD, a copy of the version 9 Manual. Stat/Transfer is only available at this price for persons ordering Stata as part of a GradPlan order.

The prices below are only for goods sent to a New Zealand address. All prices are in $A. They do not include Australian GST, New Zealand customs charges and taxes and are subject to change without notice. We do not add a surcharge for payments by credit card. Guidelines for the GradPlan

Introduction
The purpose of the Stata GradPlan is to place Stata software into the hands of students as cheaply as possible. It is assumed that the students will receive support in using Stata from their lecturers, so that they probably do not need to purchase additional Stata documentation. However, documentation may be purchased at the normal prices: see prices for software and manuals. The GradPlan prices are set at a discount to the usual academic prices, which are already much lower than the industry prices for Stata. In order to justify the lower prices, orders under GradPlans need to meet various conditions detailed below. The GradPlan system is not designed to service the statistical needs for research in a university department. For this purpose a Stata network is recommended as the best and cheapest institutional solution. Stata licences purchased under an earlier GradPlan may be upgraded to Stata 10 academic single-user licences at the academic upgrade rate, but these academic licences cannot be used as part of a network.

Eligibility and terminology
The Stata GradPlan is limited to students (and their lecturers) at academic institutions who are undertaking courses that require the use of Stata. Lecturers who would like their students to purchase Stata under the GradPlan should send us information about the course: name of university department, name of course, name of lecturer(s), start and finish dates for the course. Once we receive this information we will register the course as an New Zealand authorised course. Students may then contact us directly to submit their orders under the GradPlan at any time. There is no minimum order. At the bottom of this page we have published a list of authorised courses.
Students ordering under a GradPlan must include the name of the authorised course and their lecturer(s) on the Order Form, together with their current tertiary institution ID number as validation of their academic status. Students should preferably provide their university email address, or a private email address such as bigpond.com or telstra.com, not an address they may have at a commercial firm or hospital or government department.
Lecturers ordering under a GradPlan must include the name of the authorised course for which they are lecturing on the Order Form, together with their tertiary institution ID number and email address.

PhD students and supervisors
There is a special provision under the new Stata GradPlan for individual PhD students and their supervisors. If an individual PhD student is planning to use Stata for the research, the student and the supervisor may both be able to purchase Stata under the GradPlan. The supervisor should send us a message with an outline of the research and an indication of how Stata will be used for the data management and analysis.

Purchase conditions and procedures
The prices on this page are only for goods sent to a New Zealand address. All prices are in $A. They do not include Australian GST, New Zealand customs charges and taxes and are subject to change without notice. Stat/Transfer is only available at the above price to persons purchasing Stata software under the GradPlan and if purchased at the same time as Stata items for that person as part of a GradPlan order.

The course lecturer should arrange for each individual purchaser to complete a separate Survey Design and Analysis Services Pty Ltd Order Form. This is needed to facilitate registration of the software, and packaging and delivery of the goods.

Students and lecturers should check our web site for the current prices before ordering. The order form for each individual student should include a delivery address, and include the cost of freight at the rate shown in the above price list. We require payment in advance for these individual orders by credit card (Visa or MasterCard ) or by direct debit (including a copy of the bank deposit receipt) or by including a cheque with the Order Form. You can also use on-line banking "pay anyone": please send us an email to advise us about your payment. We recognise that some persons may wish to make their individual purchase through their institution. If they attach an institutional Purchase Order we will not require payment in advance.

As an alternative, the course co-ordinator could submit a single institutional Purchase Order. The co-ordinator would be responsible for collecting the monies for the licences from the students. We will obtain the licences and ship the materials in a single parcel to the co-ordinator. Within the parcel there will be a separate package for each user. We will not charge freight for this type of GradPlan order where all the individual orders are sent to the co-ordinator.

Other information
There are no special upgrade prices for academic staff and students who purchased earlier versions of Stata through their university under a GradPlan. If you still have academic status you may purchase upgrades to Stata 10 at the academic single-user upgrade rates or as part of a new GradPlan order. Licences upgraded from a GradPlan cannot be used subsequently as part of a network. Please include your current Stata licence number if you are upgrading by purchasing at academic upgrade rates or by submitting a new GradPlan order.
